Divine dressmaker/designers can make you a wedding gown, we pride ourselves in providing the highest standard of workmanship. Patterns can be drafted using anything from a idea, a picture, or an existing garment. We can accommodate your wishes, whether it be the creation of a fabulous wedding gown, you have designed or a minor alteration to a pattern you already have.

Be aware, in most cases alterations cost money over and above the price you pay for your wedding gown or bridesmaid’s dresses. If you are purchasing or having your wedding gown made, then you will need to ensure that your gown account is paid in full, prior to any alteration commencing.

Determine the costs of the alterations. Discuss with whoever is fitting your gown what needs to be done, why, how much time is needed to complete the alterations, and an approximate amount of what the alterations may cost, and then build this cost into your overall wedding budget.

All clients requiring alterations to a wedding gown, bridesmaids dress, or other garment will be given an invoice for payment after the alterations are finished; this invoice must be paid in full, prior to any garment being released to the client. All charges are self explanatory and will be invoiced accordingly under the Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Major or minor alterations to your wedding gown or another piece of your bridal party attire, done by a professional seamstress who is experienced in bridal alterations, fabrics and current styles. Complicated alterations to a wedding gown should be dealt with by an experienced dressmaker/designer/seamstress, who has the experience to make alterations, listen to your ideas and discuss any issues you may have about the making of your gown.

The main cause of ill fitting wedding gowns is not having a suitable torsolette that fits your bustline and body shape. A fitted torsolette is the most important undergarment you will need as part of your bridal accessories. Always remember to take your torsolette and shoes to your fittings.

Divine Wedding & Bridal will advise all clients of date and time for any scheduled fitting, please bring with you any undergarments, and shoes that you will be wearing on the wedding day.

Confirmed measurements are normally taken on the day when you order your wedding gown,
If you lose weight or put on weight after these measurements are taken, it is your responsibility to advise the bridal shop or the dressmaker as soon as possible. If you do not advise them, then you will be responsible to pay for any extra alterations that may occur as a result of weight reduction, remember a wedding gown can always be taken in, but letting it out or adding to is more costly.

The cost of alterations varies widely, depending on the style of the dress and complexity of the work involved. At Divine alteration costs are based on a flat hourly rate, we know that every gown is different and every body type has different alteration needs.

The majority of alterations include adjustments to the bodice, waistline, hips, shoulder straps, sleeves, hemline and basic bustle creations.

Complex bodice alteration – which includes boning or beading that needs to be removed, then reinserted or reapplied, these alterations are chargeable at a separate rate to general alterations.
Complex sleeve alterations such as removing and reapplying beadwork from the sleeves, will incur an additional charge.
Changes to the style of the gown are “Design Changes”; these are considered modifications to the gown and are charged for separately.

When purchasing a wedding gown you should always order earlier, rather than later. The ordering procedure can take from 3 months, up to 6 months, depending on the complexity of the gown. Divine prefers to order earlier, to ensure that your gown is made and available, 6 – 8 weeks prior to your wedding date. This time limit also allows for any alterations to your wedding gown.

This service is provided to allow for brides who require an urgent order due to unforeseen circumstances. Minimum ordering time is 6 to 8 weeks and a “Fast Track” fee is payable over and above any other charges.

Divine will press or steam your wedding gown prior to final pick up time. All clients buying a wedding gown or bridal package will be given a free garment bag. Divine will store your gown upon full and final payment, until your 2 days prior to your wedding. Clients are advised that there is a charge, if you take your wedding gown away, then bring it back to be pressed or steamed.
